It is one of the 14 pages of the Jurisdictions block, inside official figures. The raw data is in legal-data-2026.json.

What this block holds

Yukon's end-of-job rules sit in the Employment Standards Act, R.S.Y. 2002, c. 72, and none of its rows carries a start date. From it the site takes the six-month threshold, the notice ladders for employers and for employees who resign (both in section 50), temporary layoff under sections 48 and 53, notice to the director for group terminations under section 58, vacation under section 21, the eleven general holidays, final pay under section 65 and complaints under section 73. The Act contains no severance pay entitlement.

Notice runs in both directions: after six consecutive months your employer owes you notice, and you owe notice if you quit, on a ladder that reaches four weeks at six years. Vacation pay, on the other hand, doesn't step up with service. The table has a single row, 4% of wages with two weeks of vacation, however long you've worked. The holiday list includes Discovery Day, which only Yukon has.

A temporary layoff is capped at 13 weeks in any 20 consecutive weeks, but it stays temporary longer if your employer recalls you within a period the director sets, and past the limit the Employment Standards Board may extend it. The figures are statutory rather than indexed and stay as they are until an amendment changes them.

How to read the table

Figure explains the rule, Value states it, Source gives the section, Validity holds a start date (here always a dash), and Status tells you whether it was checked against the Act. Read the final pay row after a resignation: 7 days, s. 65, Verified, with a note that section 65(2) applies to termination at any time, which takes in quitting. Verified means the number was confirmed in the statute. The other two labels, Secondary source for numbers the site works out itself and Not yet verified for numbers kept off other pages, don't appear here.

No row is a calculation of what you're owed: the ladder needs your service, the percentage needs your wages, and a contract or collective agreement can set a higher floor.

Where the site uses these figures

The Yukon termination and notice guide and the severance and notice calculator are built on these rows, and the Yukon EI page deals with benefits afterwards. The resignation ladder is explained in notice you owe your employer, the seven-day rule in when your final pay is due, and the layoff limits in the rules on temporary layoffs.

Status: Verified = read in the primary source; Secondary source = worked out by us from official figures, arithmetic shown; Not yet verified = not confirmed in the primary source, and so not published as a firm figure on any other page. The detail is in rule three of the methodology.
